Description
This apparatus allows the demonstration of the dramatic differences in radiated heat from various surfaces. Being electrically heated it is more convenient than some of the more
conventional methods involving water or Bunsen flames. The
apparatus contains a single aluminium plate divided into 3
different regions: a matt black section, a polished aluminium
section and a roughened aluminium section. The plate is
heated using a resistive element, ensuring that each section
is at the same temperature. Readings of each surface may
then be taken using an infra-red thermometer (not supplied).
Connection to power supply is via 4mm sockets. The plate
requires an adjustable 12V D.C. power supply capable of
providing 1A continuously.
